Material Extrusion 3D Printing Design and Operations Workshop

Would you like to learn more about 3D printing?

This is a free course open to anyone over the age of 18 and upon successful completion you will receive a certificate. Participants should attend all 5 sessions to successfully achieve the learning objectives.

This course is delivered over 4 days at Brunel University London in the Michael Sterling Building, Room MCST 158. This training consists of five independent learning units covering the following topics:

1. 3D Printing Material Extrusion (MEX) Overview (April 21, 2022, 10am-2pm)

2. Introduction to Computer Aided Design (CAD) (April 22, 2022, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.)

3. Design for Material Extrusion (MEX) (April 28, 2022, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.)

4. 3D printer operation and practical applications (April 29, 2022, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

5. 3D printing project “Do it yourself” (April 29, 2022, 2:30-6:00 p.m.)

At the end of each learning unit, there is a summative assessment of multiple choice questions to assess your knowledge. An online questionnaire will also be distributed to collect feedback on the training course.

After this course you will be able to:

· Increasing the level of knowledge about material extrusion processes (MEX).

· Understand the potential and limitations of polymer materials and real-world applications

· Development of 3D design thinking and design principles for MEX

· Use software to create 3D CAD models

· Prepare files for the printing process

· Familiarize yourself with the printing process, post-processing, and basic troubleshooting of 3D printers

Prerequisites: In order to take part in this course, participants must be at least 18 years old and bring their own Internet-enabled device (laptop).

Participants must sign a consent form in order to attend the workshop in person. The registration deadline is April 19, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. BST.
