Diagnose malfunctioning medical devices and perform repairs without direct supervision.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities performed on assigned medical equipment and fully and promptly update the departmental database of that service record.
Perform and record preventive maintenance of assigned equipment through periodic performance checks and measurements based on equipment management plan.
Have a working knowledge of all applicable regulations and standards for medical device maintenance, including those issued by accrediting bodies.
Maintain your technical skills and stay alert to emerging trends in healthcare technology management by regularly attending seminars and reading relevant technical material.
Operate sophisticated calibration and test equipment.
Repair/calibrate life support and other critical medical devices and systems, such as B., but not limited to the following: ventricular assist devices, anesthesia devices, mechanical ventilators, electrosurgical devices, physiological patient monitoring devices, ECG and EEG devices, echo-vascular ultrasound, hypothermia devices, sphygmomanometers, defibrillators, diagnostic ultrasound and Holter systems.
Ensure urgent device fixes and device recalls are responded to in a timely manner to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
Ensure that medical devices involved, or suspected to be involved, in adverse patient interactions are managed according to organizational policies.
Perform repairs and configuration updates to the nurse call system/network including interfaces and alarm notification servers and devices.
Carrying out repairs and configuration of computer systems for patient monitoring in intensive care; Central stations, displays, database servers, advanced web servers, interface servers, alarm prioritization and routing servers.
Maintenance and configuration of alarm reporting devices, interfaces and systems for medical devices.
Maintain and configure electronic ICU servers and associated network equipment.
Perform repairs and configurations of data acquisition equipment that connects clinical diagnostic and treatment equipment to institutional medical recording and data acquisition systems.
Monitor incoming work orders, prioritize work by criticality and accurately document all work in the department’s computerized maintenance management system
Provide excellent customer service. Contact the department’s customers and provide the repair status of the device and the estimated return time. Resolve customer complaints in a diplomatic and professional manner.
Providing guidance to clinical users on the proper use and care of diagnostic, treatment and monitoring devices.
Demonstrate proper setup, calibration, and operation of patient care equipment to clinical staff as needed.
Assisting in the installation of medical devices and systems by collaborating with clinical users to select appropriate devices for their needs, determining necessary infrastructure upgrades or changes, recommending assembly locations, and working with contractors to ensure proper device installation, cable routing, and labeling.
Provide team members with direction, support, and feedback on various equipment repair activities and procedures when requested.

requirements

B.Sc or HND in Biomedical Engineering/Technology
At least 9 years of post-NYSC experience
Remarkable understanding of the framework as well as the use of biomedical devices.
Strong technological skills as well as the ability to maintain equipment
Strong logical and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills as well as the ability to explain complicated details in an easy to understand way.
Ability to function well under stress and thrive in a busy clinical atmosphere.
Efficiency in dealing with a computer system
The ability to drive is a significant requirement.
Knowledge of various hospital facilities is an advantage.
