Step towards sustainable palm oil production in Indonesia

October 18, 2021, Jakarta, Indonesia | IDH – The Initiative for Sustainable Trade & Cargill announced today that they have signed a new multi-year agreement with JDE Peet’s (EURONEXT: JDEP). support independent smallholders in Ketapang, West Kalimantan, towards sustainable palm oil production in Indonesia.

This partnership and continued working with key stakeholders in the palm oil supply chain is a key milestone in JDE Peet’s commitment to sourcing 100% coffee, tea and palm oil from responsible sources by 2025.

This joint program builds on the partnership between IDH and Cargill under the program “Development of the 1stNS physically sustainable palm oil procurement from independent 3approx Party in KetapangIn 2021, the project is already helping at least 3,000 smallholders better understand their sustainability performance, increase productivity, and align business practices with international sustainability standards. Cargill has made a long-term commitment to sourcing that will lead to an increase in physical sourcing the Cargill mills from the surrounding third-party crops.
